Chadha
and Chadha Complete Big Win, Move to Top of Table
(l to r) - Deepak Rajera, Ashish and Deepak |
After a somewhat below par performance in their first game,
Chadha and Chadha bounced back to score an emphatic win over Software One.
Opening seamers Deepak and Ashish were impressive with their speed and control.
Deepak is one of the fastest bowlers in this tournament, and openers Manoj and Imran
faced a serious examination of their techniques, temperaments and courage.
Deepak began with a maiden over and Ashish complemented that
effort by handcuffing the openers effectively from the other end. The immobile
scorecard finally forced Manoj to go for a slog in the 6th, which he
missed and ended clean bowled. Imran saw off the opening burst but his
concentration let him down in the 8th, as he feather-edged medium pacer
Vikas through to the wicket-keeper.
Wickets fell consistently from that point on, as off spinners
Deepak Rajera and Rohan picked up three scalps each with their tight wicket to
wicket lines. Sahil, an elegant left hander whose favorite shot is a swinging
cover drive off the front foot, was the only batsman to put up a resistance. He
batted on till the 17th over, scoring 40 off 27 balls, before
missing a sweep and ending up LBW to Deepak Rajera.
Manish (r) wins the MoM award |
The chase of 110 was completed in 11 overs without any fuss. Opener
Manish scored an aggressive 47 from 30 balls, getting off the mark with 4
boundaries off Pradeep in the first over, including a lift over the bowler’s
head, a glance past short fine leg and a couple of swats through cover.
Goldy, walking in at number 4, provided some late entertainment,
smashing five fours and a six enroute to a rapid 33 not out. Manish earned
himself the Man of Match award for his innings of 47. Sahil was the Best
Performer for Software One for his knock of 40, and Ashish was the Best Bowler
of the day for his stifling spell of seam bowling that produced the wicket of
Software One captain Manoj Jacob.
Sahil was the Best Performer for Software One |
