Summer Twenty League Qualification Scenarios

2 weekends to go in the league phase of STL 2015, and everyone has the same question – can we make it to the semi-finals? Amazingly, 9 out of the 12 teams can still qualify! The scenarios for outright qualification (not dependant on Net Run Rate) for each of the 9 teams in contention are mentioned below.

Please note that ‘outright qualification’ refers to a situation where you are not dependent on NRR (Net Run Rate) for your qualification. It is possible that your team may qualify for the semi-finals, even if the conditions given below are not met. In that case, however, you will only qualify on NRR.

Rules for qualification

Here is the section from the tournament rules are regulations pertaining to qualification:

Qualification for the Knockout Stages

  1. After the league phase, the top two teams from each pool will progress to the  semi-finals for the Cup division. The pool standings will be decided on the basis of points. In the event that two teams have equal points, their head-to-head result will be considered. If three or all four teams are tied on points, Net Run Rate will be considered.
  2. A win in the league phase carries 2 points. In the event of a tie, the match will be decided by a Super Over. The Super Over will commence 10 minutes after the completion of the regular match, and the team batting second in the match will be required to bat first in the Super Over.
